One of the best ways to keep in touch with the current trends in promoting your blogs is by attending blog meetings. Today, we were given the opportunity to attend the blogger's meeting organized by DigitalFilipino.com.
The event was held in Davao, October 21, 2008 at the Grand Regal Hotel (previously the Mercure Hotel). It was sponsored by PAGCOR, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, one of the largest corporations in the Philippines. PAGCOR is responsible for legalized gambling such as casinos in various places of the country, and it is one of the ways that our government generates funds for use in education, support to the poor, and other worthwhile endeavors.
Honestly, the food was great. It was the first time I've eaten so much meat in a single meal. I've also tried different drinks. The ambience of the place was quite good.
The people were very interesting. We met and talked with the authors of many celebrated blogs. The speaker was the writer of the book Blogging from Home. We had the chance to share our ideas, and how we monetized our blogs. I wish I had more time to speak with those people, as after the program there was the band music that made the words hard to make out.
Later, we went down to the Casino, and since we were given P300 coupons that we could play with, we tried betting. And to our luck, we won! So we ended the night a-belly-full-of-meat -and-wine and P300 richer. We went home inspired to improve our blogs and compete with the top Filipino bloggers.
After this event, I added my blog to www.ratified.org to be listed in the Filipino directory. Hopefully in the next bloggers meet, one of my blogs will be in the top 100.
